Class On-Line Magazine!

A Collaborative Web-Project

  • What is an online magazine?

    It is like any other magazaine except that this one is published online, so that the whole world can view and read your work.(See example 1) and (example 2)

  • You need to divide the magazine into 3 sections,including:

    Section 1:

    About Us! (Each student must provide a short self- introduction paragraph. The paragraph should consists of: student name, age, college grade, major, hobbies, or favorite food and places..etc..).

    Section 2:

    Topics! (This section should include the following:

    1. Links to students' blogs grouped and arranged by topic.(See examples 1 & 2 above).
    2. Other writings students wrote through the course and would like to add.

     

    Section 3:

    1. Guest book: Feedback or comments from your audience.
    2. Links. (Your favorite websites, compiled in one page).
  • Directions:
    1. The online magazine should include topics related to the required six Units from the course textbook North Star. (Unit 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 & 9).
    2. Students will be divided into six groups. Each group will choose ONE topic ONLY from North Star 6 Topics, including:
      • Advertising All Over the World.(Unit 1)
      • Telecommuting. (Unit 2)
      • A Miracle Cure.(Unit 3)
      • Gender Differences.(Unit 5)
      • Cars.(Unit 7)
      • Crime and Punishment.(Unit 9)

       

  • During each c-lab session, students will research a topic to find more information from the WWW and from virtual interviews or meetings with international teachers, using online conference or webcasting tools.
  • Each group will gather and compile the new information on a topic to write a paragraph or essay, after midterm, and then post it to their blogs.
  • By the end of the semester, intersted students will build a tripod.com website to add and publish the completed work of students.
