My Reflection on the Use of CMC Tools with Kuwaiti Students

• From Fall 2001 & Spring 2002: (Remedial General English course 090).

  • Type: One-to-One indirect tutorial chat
  • Topic: General
  • Objectives: to enahnce language fluency, vocabulary, writing, typing, and spelling skills.
• Asynchronous Communication:
  • (Fall 2001):
• Tool: Hotmail.com
• Type: Messages were mainly exchanged to post assignments, provide directions to complete homeworks, and other general announcements).(students wrote a lot).
• Projects: International Writing Exchange Program of Ruth Vilmi, Round 10 Blue.(a few students continued the 6-week round, one student submitted an evaluation).(no extra credits or bonus points).
• (Spring 2002):
  • Tool: Hotmail.com.
  • Type: Messages were mainly exchanged to post assignments, provide directions to complete homeworks, and other general announcements).(students didn't write me enough).
  • Projects: International Writing Exchange Program of Ruth Vilmi, Round Blue.(Optional with bonus points).(one students participated but didn't post any message).
• (Fall 2002 to Spring 2003): (Synchronous & Asynchronous Communication )
• Tools: MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenegr, Groupboard, Yahoo Group, Tapped In, (Technical trouble: access denied in KH C-Lab.# 1. Two students managed to access TI from home).
• Type: One-to One and Multiparticipants, (group chat).
• Topic: Educational and Free topic chat.
• Project: 2 text chat projects, using Group board and Yahoo messenger.
• Objectives: Enahnce students Language and e-Learning skills.
