Week 1 : ( Aug 10 - 16)

  • Listening Activity:

    Choose ONE of the following listening exercises: (Take notes while you're listening)

    • Interview 1: Listen to * Vanessa Redgrave, talks about her agonies as a teenager, the influence of her parents, her politics, her sense of being an ever-changing person.

     

    • Post-Listening questions:
      1. Do you Find Vanessa Redgrave's problems similar to yours in any way?
      2. What kind of restrictions do you suffer in your society? What are they connected with?
      3. How much discrimination do you feel there is?
      4. What would you like to change in your lifestyle?
      5. How much freedom would you like to have? Who does that depend on?

       

    • Interview 2: Listen to * Tiffany talks about her current life, and future hopes, as a university student. (You could also click on download mp3 to listen directly to the interview on your pc).

     

    • Post-Listening questions:
    "It is not easy for many young people to become singers or actors in some conservative cultures, like that of Kuwait or Bahrain. Creative people are usually discouraged in these cultures."

    Have you experienced any kind of situation where cultural difficulties or lack of freedom stopped you from thinking about your hopes for your future?

  • Writing Activity:
      1. Write a short paragraph on your own experience regarding your hopes for your future.
      2. Post your writing to CAE 2005 Blog!

       

Week 2: ( Aug 17 - 22)

  • Speaking Activity:

    • First Skype meeting and rehearsal session will be held on August 17, @ 18:00-19:00 GMT
    • Please Read the directions:
      1. Log in Skype.com 15 minutes before the rehersal session starts.
      2. Check to see if your headset works well.
      3. Check the audio and voice settings from the control panel page on your PC to see if everything works well, and run the audio test if necessary.
      4. Add skype names of all participants to your Skype buddy-list.
  • Reading Activity:
    • Read another student's paragraph published on the Blog , and then post your comment. (Please be nice to each other; and try to provide constructive comments).

     

Final Skype-Presentation at Skype.com on (Monday, August 22, at 18:00 GMT

    • Please follow these directions:
      1. Log in Skype.com 10 minutes before the final presentation-session starts.
      2. Check to see if your headset works well.
      3. Check the audio and voice settings from the control panel page on your PC to see nothing muted and run the audio test if necessary.
      4. Add skype names of all participants to your Skype buddy-list.
      5. Make sure you add (wolrdbridges_hq).
      6. To join the Chat Room at WorldBridges.com & hear the live webcast, go to: < http://worldbridges.com/livewire/chat.htm >
