NS-Unit 1: "Advertising All Over the World"

• During this 2-hour session you will learn:
• How to create a weblog for your class writing assignments.
• How to post a self-introduction paragraph to your weblog.
• How to use the sound recorder built in your pc to record your voice?
• How to work in groups on a collaborative project.

Activity 1: (Creating a Blog)

1. Before you start creating your blog, let me tell you Waht is a weblog?
2. To start creating your weblog, click on tripod.com , and then sign up for a membership.
3. After that, you have to follow the instructions on how to create a blog.
4. Then, you will have to type a short self-introduction paragraph. (Use the concept of the 5Ws to help you provide necessary information).
5. Try to Include general and specific information about yourself.
6. You can include detailed information about youself, such as, education, work experience, activities, hobbies, and future goals.
7. Remember to use Present & Past Tenses.

Activity 2: (Role Play - a Voice-chat project)

• Click on "Radio Commercials by Students"

Activity 3 : (Reading 2: Culture)

• What is an idiom? Why some English idioms make no sense in Arabic and vice versa?
• Learn some idioms, included in North Star Unit 1, Reading 2, "Changing the World Market".
• Click on IdiomsQuizzes, by The Internet TESL Journal.
